Marie kim' ‘Missing and found(2021)’
Marie Kim was born in Busan in 1979. Before graduating from high school, she moved to Melbourne. In 2004, she received a BA in Animation from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and a MA in Creative Media from the same school in 2006. Since 2007, she has exhibited her work in several exhibitions in Korea, and published EYEDOLL in 2008.
Through her group and solo exhibitions, she became an exclusive artist at the Ghana Art Gallery, where she served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Digital Media at the Catholic University of Korea.
In 2011, she directed YG Entertainment's group 2NE1's album artwork and their music video "Hate You", which made her a huge hit with the public. Meanwhile, in 2012 she worked as Art Director for Artistic Mentoring for Disabled Children with Seoul Cultural Foundation and Jamsil Creative Studio. She was awarded the Cheonggang Culture Award in 2013 where she is awarded by the Women's Newspaper and Women's Cultural Content Producer by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Her collaboration with Clio, another brand of Korean cosmetics, Peripera, was loved, and her paintings gained more public recognition. It is known in Korea for many domestic exhibitions and corporate collaborations, and continues to exhibit overseas.
In 2018, she launched Marie Marie, a total artistic fashion brand. Mari-Mari, created as a unique fashion brand by combining Mari Kim's artwork and fashion sense, is distributed overseas through the showroom Romeo Paris.
